What is a galactic open mic?
A galactic open mic is a space for community storytelling that honours our sacred, unique place in the galaxy as the dreams of our ancestors here on earth! This is the first of a regular series of COSMOVERSE open mics be hosted with Greenhouse. Come be part of the legacy!

Shanika Maria + Tray the Poet

Shanika Maria is a queer Black singer-songwriter, producer and creator currently based in Toronto. Her lyrics are contemplative and introspective. She is influenced by music across genres, borrowing sounds and ideas from country, folk, jazz, classical, latin and electronic music. She is interested in integrating new styles and ways of creating music into her practice.

Tray is a multifaceted poetic artist who constantly explores new versions of himself. He is rooted in his daily practices of meditation, Qigong, and nature exposure to help create a harmonious environment around him. He craves experiences where he can travel, learn more about the culture and people of the land he's occupying and connecting back to his African roots. Ultimately, he wants to create those experiences with everyone he interacts with, a sense of liberation, pride, and self knowledge
